About the Edgebrook Community Association

The Edgebrook Community Association (ECA) is our area's local homeowner organization that enjoys a long history that began back in the 1940's, when many of the homes in our area were just being built. Surrounded by forest preserves, this corner of the city has a reputation for "suburban living in the city", while offering quick access to all the museums, theatres and shopping experiences of the City of Chicago!

The ECA encourages a community spirit among our residents, while seeking to assist with the maintenance and improvement of some of the public property and services in the community.

FAMILY-ORIENTED COMMUNITY EVENTS:

A key activity of the Edgebrook Community Association, are the family oriented community events we sponsor throughout the year to help bring our community members together.

These events include:

  1. The Easter Egg Hunt, held each year in Green Park at the corner of Algonquin and Tahoma Avenues.
  2. The annual 4th of July Parade and Picnic that begins at Edgebrook School and winds its way along Devon, Lehigh and Hiawatha avenues to Wildwood Park picnic area.
  3. The Halloween Decorating Contest that features local homes that highlight the seasonal spirit!!
  4. and the Christmas Cookie Walk, Crafts Workshop and Santa Visit and Photo op - that is featured in our Downtown area in support of our local merchants.

MAINTAINING APPEARANCES:

To keep our local area looking its best, the ECA actively supports and manages the maintenance of some of our more prominent public downtown areas, including the landscaping around the Metra Station as well as the Triangle in the center of our local downtown area. Our members are important supporters of these efforts as Metra and the City of Chicago do not have the funds to maintain much of the public areas throughout the Metropolitan area.

To stay in touch with the City of Chicago, members of our board interface with the Alderman's offices and the forest preserve official’s that serve our community, to highlight things that require attention and voice our concerns on city zoning issues and other city related topics.

Finally, the ECA assists with snow removal during the winter. By plowing some of our local streets, we provide timely snow removal to ensure many of our residents are able to get to work, as city plows can often take a few days to reach our corner of the city.

The Edgebrook Community Association depends on the support of our local resident members to help make our corner of the city one of the most popular and resident friendly areas of the city!
