2018 Seed & Plant Exchange
The ECA teamed up with the Edgebrook Library to present a spring Seed & Plant Exchange in May. Christine Rosenberg documented the event with some wonderful photos. The ECA gave members a treat: either a "Pizza Box" with plants you could use on a pizza or a "Window Box" with plants that would brighten up your garden.
Gardens using seeds and plants from the exchange are doing well. Our members share photos. See them here.

June 2018 Triangle Update
Caryn Meyers, ECA Beautificaiton Director, continued her work on the Triangle this month, weeding, spreading mulch, and adding plants as part of a multi-year plan to make the garden area more manageable, as well as to improve the overall look of the area.
We had a blast!
Thanks to everyone who attend the ECA's July 4th Parade, Picnic & Concert.
We marched. We ate hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and brats. We danced. We played games. We celebrated Independence Day the Edgebrook way.
Thank you neighbors for helping us celebrate. Thank you volunteers who pitched in on the food service, face painting, games and inflatables. Special thanks to Edgebrook's Park Community Church for running the games so well! We could not have done it without you.
The July 4th Parade, Picnic & Concert wouldn't have been the same without the support of these wonderful sponsors.
Justin Ochonicki shared his photos from the shindig. View his photos here.

The ECA supports our Library
Take a look at what's being offered at the Edgebrook Branch Library. In addition to books, movies, music, and reference materials, our library has a wealth of interesting, educational, and fun programming.Take a look.
The City of Chicago’s primary concern is keeping the major traffic arteries clear. Plowing side streets is a much lower priority for the Department of Streets and Sanitation.
The ECA, on the other hand, is concerned about emergency vehicle access to our side streets as well as the ability of our neighbors to get out of the neighborhood and off to work in a timely fashion.
The ECA notifies our plowing contractor when snow fall reaches four inches. The contractor clears a path down the center of the street. The goal is not total snow removal, but rather the creation of an access path for emergency vehicles as well as egress for our neighbors.
The ECA provides snow plow service to this area, excluding the major city streets.
